Jayne has designed a special class for the serious Pate-de-Verre enthusiast. Inspired by her studies with the Higuchis (world recognized masters of the Pate-de-Verre process from Japan) she has created an in-depth two day class that will teach you how to mix colors, create color gradations, and develop your own glass palette. These skills will prepare you to create your own line of reproducible pate-de-verre glass products by showing not only the techniques to use but how to think differently about your design approaches. The emphasis here is on being able to develop a repeatable design as opposed to an accidental, one of a kind piece. One possible direction would be to make a dinner place setting with 3-dimensional elements like Jayne will use as the class project. After each student creates their own set of color blended samples to use for this and future projects, the class will learn to use a damming system and different ways to “charge” or fill reusable molds to achieve a controlled designs. You will leave with a thorough understanding of this exciting, time-honored technique and how it can be applied to jewelry, art objects and other spectacular pieces.
