Back by popular demand! Jayne has agreed to share her innovative glass forming process. In this action packed hands-on class you will form two beautiful bracelets and one stunning watchband from pre-fused elements. Students will be introduced to her pioneering methods of designing, cutting, layering and shaping glass into wearable art. The manipulation of glass over molds and how to use custom tools will be a particular focus. Jayne will cover different finishing techniques and how you can complement and complete designs using wire wrapping.
Tools to bring: glass cutter, safety glasses, breaking pliers, wire-wrapping tools, watch face (available for purchase during class)
This class has a $25.00 lab fee.
23S - "Advanced Bracelet Design" with Jayne Persico
Saturday, May 5th
This new class was created for intermediate students with bracelet forming experience. In this class, bracelets will be fused and cast, but not formed. This workshop will feature several creative bracelet styles. The primary focus will be Cast Dichroic Bracelets. Students will also learn how to apply cast elements to hot bracelet blanks, as well as having the opportunity to experience the embossing process. The Cane Pulling technique will be demonstrated at this workshop. Come and experience a whole new level of bracelet design!
Students should bring: safety glasses, glass cutters, breaking pliers.

Jayne's jewelry designs are as innovative as the special techniques she has developed.

For over a quarter of a century Jayne Persico has been incorporating new ideas and expanding tradition in the glass medium. Credited in books, magazines and on national television for her work, she is widely known for her glass designs and ground breaking finishing techniques, particularly for her bracelets and watches. As the innovator of the kiln formed bracelet technique and her trademarked glass embossing system, Jayne has also developed the precision tools that support these procedures. She is author of two books, “Innovative Adornments: an Introduction to Fused Glass and Wired Jewelry” and “Kiln Formed Bracelets.” She has produced six instructional videos on fusing, glass & wire jewelry designs and kiln forming. Besides numerous Hot Glass Horizons events, Jayne has also taught for the Art Glass Suppliers Association, Glass Craft Expo and Glass Extravaganza, "The Studio" at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY and Hot Glass 2000 and 2002 in Dublin, Ireland. She also enjoys an ongoing relationship with Waterford Crystal and her unique work is represented in galleries in the United States and Internationally.
